Adelaide South Parklands Stormwater Management

An initiative of the Cities of Adelaide, Burnside, Mitcham, Unley and West Torrens, The Brown Hill and Keswick Creek Stormwater Project was aimed at implementing a stormwater management plan to reduce flood risk from Brown Hill and Keswick Creeks.

Tonkin Consulting was engaged to undertake a Feasibility Study and subsequently to develop concept designs for the project. Tonkin Consulting worked with a number of sub-consultants including a landscape architect to develop the proposals. The project has included a number of technical studies including floodplain mapping, water quality modelling, investigations into contamination status of soils, water harvesting and reuse, aquifer storage and heritage considerations.

In addition to providing temporary flood storage, the project will deliver multiple outcomes including construction of wetlands in Victoria Park, water quality improvements, opportunities to harvest stormwater, increased flora and fauna habitats and the creation of an amenity for users of the park.
