Mawson Connector and Mawson Transport Hub

The Mawson Public Transport Interchange project was a State Government funded project which provides integrated bus and passenger train interconnection services, shelters, car parking for up to 100 cars and the potential for future expansion.

As part of Mawson Public Transport Interchange project, the Mawson Connector was developed. The Mawson Connector is a 1.3 kilometre dual carriageway connecting the Salisbury Highway and Main North Road and includes a railway overpass.

Tonkin Consulting was engaged as the lead road works design consultant in the consortium led by Bardavcol. The site posed significant challenges such as the concision with the confluence of several major urban stormwater drainage systems, it required a grade separation between Elder Smith Road and the multi-track rail corridor while providing a grade rail/bus/car transport interchange incorporating two station platforms with full disability access and pedestrian/rail separation.

Our fully integrated design approach provided significant construction cost savings and delivered a high standard of functionality to the solution.
