Port Adelaide Seawater Stormwater Flood Risk Study

Funded by the City of Port Adelaide, State and Commonwealth governments, a study was conducted to assess the vulnerability of the land around the Port River in relation to peak tide events, rainfall events and combinations of the two. With some parts of Port Adelaide being low-lying and susceptible to inundation from high tides, an assessment was imperative.

Tonkin Consulting prepared the Stage One report as well as concept design work on various aspects of the flood risk treatment strategies. A study was also conducted that utilised state-of-the-art 2D hydrodynamic modelling to simulate the inundation patterns of both peak tide events and extreme rainfall events.

The City of Port Adelaide are well-informed on the state of their land with a complete assessment provided including risks and strategies going forward.
