AWA – Water, Environment and Society Award
With the critical focus on managing our State’s water resources, Tonkin Consulting continues to be recognised for innovation and best practice in this area. In conjunction with EconSearch and Masterplan, Tonkin Consulting received the 2006 AWA Water, Environment and Society Award in October 2006.
Awarded for a Water Supply Investigation undertaken for the Central Local Government Region of South Australia (CLGRSA), the prize recognises excellence in the SA Water Industry, associated with community and environmentally orientated work of a non-engineering nature.
Projects selected for the award must meet four key criteria: quality communication, beneficial outcomes for the water cycle, beneficial outcomes for the environment and beneficial outcomes for the community.
The CLGRSA project provided a review of the water supply to the region including the source of water, the nature of the end use, water supply infrastructure conditions, council requirements for development and the requirements for alteration of the supply network. It provided valuable information to the fifteen-member councils of the CLGRSA, enabling them to plan and structure water supply improvements within their respective council areas, in conjunction with SA Water and other relevant government authorities.
