John Willbery - Retirement after almost 50 years of service to roads engineering

John has nearly 50 years' experience in road construction, transport planning, road planning, road design, traffic management, road safety auditing and heavy vehicle route assessment. His career includes over twenty years employment with the Highways Department (the fore-runner of DPTI) followed by a similar period in private practice.
John received his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from Uni SA as a mature-age student while still working at the Highway's Department. He later went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Municipal Engineering at Uni SA.
John has worked at Tonkin Consulting for the last 14 years, where he has contributed to a number of significant transport projects including major upgrades to various sections of Prospect Road and Churchill Road, Mawson Connector and the Southern Expressway. He has also worked closely with many local councils as they have undertaken upgrades of local road network.
We wish John well in his retirement and thank him for his many years of service to roads engineering and Tonkin Consulting.
