29 August 2017
Local engineering consultancy, Tonkin Consulting had a triumphant night at the prestigious Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) Excellence Awards in Perth last week for their work on key local government projects.
Tonkin Consulting demonstrated their excellence with the acceptance of two awards; Excellence in Asset Management 2017, for the River Torrens Linear Park Strategic Asset Management plan, and Excellence in Road Safety 2017 for the City-wide Schools Traffic Safety and Parking Review.
The awards represent the most outstanding public works engineering projects for Australia and New Zealand.
IPWEA CEO Robert Fuller said both the industry and communities should be encouraged by the calibre of the winners and finalists at the inaugural awards.
Local Government Program Manager for Tonkin Consulting, Michael de Heus says, “the awards are a great achievement and reward the collaboration between the Councils and the consultant team. Tonkin Consulting is continually working to provide solutions that make an immediate impact to our Local Government clients and the community”.
“We place great importance on continuous innovation in the delivery of infrastructure and improving local community assets through our work. Being recognised for our work on a state and national industry level gives us a great deal of gratification."
Mr de Heus accepted the awards at the Komatsu Grand Platinum Gala Dinner held on the last day of the 2017 IPWEA International Public Works Conference.
The finalists were representing the best in the industry, having already won their category from each Australian state and New Zealand in 2015-2017.
IPWEA is a not-for profit association for public works and engineering professionals across Australia and New Zealand. The awards are sponsored by Ventia and highlight innovation, skill and dedication within the public works industry and commend practitioners who have gone above and beyond in the provision of infrastructure and services for their communities.
