Berth 29 Shipping Facility Expansion

To meet the growing demand of South Australian minerals, a new dedicated bulk minerals export precent has been created at Port Adelaide on Berth 29 in ‘Inner Harbor’.

Tonkin Consulting was engaged to engineer the facility design with hard-wearing pavements for heavy vehicles, expand utilities (communications/water/power), reclaim land and extend the seawall. A key challenge was finding the solution for safe terminal traffic. Tractors needed to manoeuvre freely to keep operations efficient, yet be safe. Tonkin Consulting also designed a facility for washing down large vehicles to manage contamination.

Tonkin Consulting liaised with all managing authorities to deliver the work on schedule, within budget.
