In July, Tonkin took the next step on our strategic pathway to become a national consulting firm when it acquired Taylor Lauder Bersten (TLB). The acquisition of TLB gives Tonkin a solid stepping stone to enter the NSW market, adding to its offices in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Since the acquisition, we have provided our civil engineering skillset to complement TLB’s existing specialisations in structural and maritime engineering. This has been well received by TLB’s existing client base and we have begun to be involved in a number of exciting new projects together.
One of these projects, which is now in construction, is the development of Arden Anglican School in Epping. The project includes construction of a five-storey school building over a basement carpark level, new multi-sport courts and a rooftop terrace. Our team is part of a Design and Construct team led by Lipman as head contractors, supported by architect Stanton Dahl.
Other projects include the upgrades of four swim centres in Cumberland Council, a new Independent Living Development in Sydney’s west and the construction of a multi-storey underground carpark as part of the Linfield Village Green development.
Tonkin has recently hired a civil resource in the Sydney office to provide local support to our clients as we continue to grow in the NSW market.
As we find more opportunities to work and grow together, both Tonkin and TLB remain very excited about our future together in the Australian engineering and construction markets.
