Carmen Wentrock, Tonkin’s National Leader – Water, has been appointed President of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Water Association.

Carmen has been actively involved the Australian water industry for many years and has been a member on the AWA SA branch committee since 2013. Her appointment follows her time as Vice President on the committee for the past two years.

Water is where Tonkin made its name, and for more than 65 years we have been developing innovative approaches in water management. With Carmen at the helm as our National Leader - Water, we continue to proudly take a leadership role in ecological stewardship within the water sector.

When Carmen took on the leadership of Tonkin’s Water team, it comprised seven people. Over time, she has built it to a team of more than 20. Throughout this growth period, she has continued to generate a strong pipeline of work to provide security and stability for her team and the business.

Carmen is particularly passionate about providing regional communities around Australia with essential water and sewer services, while ensuring the solutions are robust and environmentally sustainable. She has successfully delivered a range of significant projects throughout regional Australia.

In addition to her leadership and engagement with those already in the engineering profession, Carmen advocates studying STEM subjects at several events aimed to engage primary and high school students to pursue careers in these fields. She enjoys sharing her experience with students and aims to be a strong female role model for those considering pursuing a career in engineering.

Tonkin is proud to have several of our people serving in industry leadership role and contributing to the future of engineering, like Carmen.
