This week Rod Ellis celebrates 25 years of service at Tonkin. Having joined Tonkin in 1996, Rod is currently our Discipline Principal for Infrastructure Management. He provides technical oversight of the infrastructure asset management services team, hosting software and data for 23 councils.
Since joining Tonkin, Rod has been essential part of the company’s success and continued growth. In addition to asset management, Rod’s experience at Tonkin has extended across business management services, community wastewater management systems, pavements, project management, quality assurance, construction supervision, roads, traffic, hydrology, and hydraulics.

Rod has been an Executive Director at Tonkin since 2004, sat on the Consult Australia SA committee 2001 to 2011, has been an IPWEA SA board member since 2012, and is currently the President of IPWEA SA.
In 2014 Rod was privileged to receive the IPWEA SA Public Works Professional of the Year excellence award for his work in asset management and research and development work in road surfacing materials.
Rod’s passion and drive to provide exceptional outcomes for Tonkin’s local government clients is inspiring and motivates the whole team to work together to deliver the same excellent service.
Reflecting on his time with Tonkin, Rod said:
