Engineers Australia SA Project of the Year

We’re thrilled to share that our work on the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre has been recognised, winning Project of the Year at the Engineers Australia - South Australia Division Excellence Awards on 18 September.

The state-of-the-art Flinders Chase Visitor Centre on Kangaroo Island is a key initiative in the region’s recovery from the 2019/2020 bushfires that devastated the island. Tonkin played a pivotal role as the lead structural and civil engineering consultant for the design and construction of the new ecologically sustainable, fire-resilient facility. 

Tonkin worked in collaboration with Troppo Architects to deliver this iconic project for the South Australian Government Department for Environment and Water. 

We’re now in the running for National Project of the Year, which will be announced at the Engineers Australia National Excellence Awards in November.
