On 16 January 2023 Alexandrina Council gave the green light to revitalise the Goolwa Wharf Precinct, a project thought to be the biggest asset restoration project in the history of the Council.
Tonkin has been engaged by Alexandrina Council to provide multi-disciplinary engineering services that will deliver practical and sustainable solutions to reinvigorate the facility, in addition to improving accessibility and connectivity across the multi-user space.
Located on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, the historic Wharf Shed will be remediated and the wharf decking will be reconstructed. Additional elements in the plan to revitalise the area include car parking, improvements to the Signal Point Building, new rail pedestrian crossings and fencing for pedestrian safety, and upgraded pathways to improve pedestrian and cycle linkages.
With our previous experience working on similar projects for a number of other councils, Tonkin has been well placed to provide engineering solutions that deliver much needed restoration works, while also carefully considering the cultural and heritage feature of the precinct.
Construction works are set to start early this year.
You can find out more about the project on Alexandrina Council’s website.
