At the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia SA AGM, Rod Ellis was appointed President of the SA division.

Rod, who has held the position of Vice President for the past two years, succeeds John Hutton, who has led the division through a period of change, regaining stability to enable the division to play a key role in the public works industry in the future. Elected by Industry onto the IPWEA SA Board in 2012, Rod went on to win Public Works Professional of the Year in 2014 for his work in asset management and research work in asphalt trials.

Over the past 7 years on the board, he has assisted with the division’s strategic planning and recruitment and is currently leading Governance Review. Rod is also assisting with the facilitation of interested groups in asphalt and concrete pipe defect management. Rod’s appointment follows on from the appointment of Tonkin CEO Gerry Doyle as Consult Australia President earlier this year.

Tonkin is proud to have two leaders of our business represented on industry boards and we look forward to contributing to the future of our field.
