Tim Thiel celebrates 35 years with Tonkin

Tim initially joining us in 1990 as a graduate engineer, aged 21. Initially Tim was involved in a variety of projects including minor structural design, drainage design and structural checking for local government, later becoming involved in infrastructure engineering and local government engineering.  

Currently in his role as National Lead - Local Government, Tim continues to mentor engineers at all levels, sharing his expertise and leadership with the next generation of talent, overseeing the development and delivery of local government projects across metropolitan and regional Australia.   

During his career, he has played a vital role in shaping Tonkin, having been a key player in the launch of our first regional site, Mount Gambier. Moving to the regional town in 2000, Tim's involvement in the establishment of this office ensured the future success of Tonkin in the countries south-east, delivering many key projects that has helped shape and will continue to support the local community for years to come.  

Over the years, Tim has been involved in a slew of significant projects nation-wide, including the Upper South East Dryland Salinity and Flood Mitigation Works project, numerous land division projects, and the beautiful Warraparinga Wetlands.
