Tonkin appointed lead consultant

We’re pleased to announce that Tonkin has been appointed as the lead designer to support the City of Holdfast Bay in delivering the designs for the Jetty Road Masterplan Stage 2 Coastal Zone.

The masterplan provides a long-term vision for Jetty Road, reinforcing the precinct’s status as one of Adelaide’s most popular seaside destinations. 

Tonkin was engaged following a competitive open market expression of interest, which concluded in a two-stage select tender process and the design services contract being awarded. Tonkin will work in collaboration with subconsultants Tract.

This phase of the project will begin with conceptual design and will involve working closely with elected members and key stakeholders to develop the designs, before undertaking public consultation activities on the proposed concept plans.

Tonkin is a public works specialist with more than 65 years' experience providing engineering and associated services to local government clients.

Recently we supported City of Holdfast Bay deliver Stage 1 of the Jetty Road Masterplan, the Chapel Street Plaza and Bouchee Walk Redevelopment.

Approximately 14 months on from the official opening, the upgraded space is being well used by locals and visitors and the newly planted vegetation is flourishing.

Previously a small one-way street, Chapel Street was upgraded with plaza features including natural stone pavements, water sensitive urban design elements, an arbour, trees, seating, lighting and an eye-catching public art sculpture. Across from the plaza, Bouchee Walk was also upgraded with new stone paving, public toilets, including a parents’ room and Changing Places facility.

Tonkin undertook civil, stormwater, structural and electrical design to help transform the concept design into a detailed design ready for construction.
