Tonkin is thrilled to welcome Fred Moshiri, who recently joined our Sydney Structures team as a Principal Structural Engineer.

With more than 15 years’ experience, Fred brings a wealth of expertise in engineering project management and structural design. He collaborates closely with architects, contractors, and developers to deliver high-quality engineering solutions that prioritise both efficiency and architectural integrity.

Fred is deeply committed to advancing sustainability in construction and has played a pivotal role in designing and constructing numerous timber buildings across Australia. His academic journey includes a Master's degree in Structural Engineering from Linnaeus University, Sweden, where he specialised in timber engineering. Fred also received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship for Earthquake Engineering studies in France and Italy (ROSE School) and completed his PhD at the University of Technology, Sydney, focusing on timber concrete composite connections and floors.

Fred served as a post-doctoral Industry Fellow at the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering at Western Sydney University. He has contributed to the engineering community through his tenure on the Civil Structural Committee of Engineers Australia and as a reviewer for the Journal of Engineering Structures. Fred is also a respected industry guest lecturer at UTS, where he has taught various subjects in Structural Engineering since 2016.
