Mount Gambier Shared Path Master Plan
Client:
City of Mount Gambier
Location:
Mount Gambier, SA
What we did
Tonkin was engaged to develop a Shared Path Master Plan to improve Mount Gambier/Berrin’s cycling and pedestrian infrastructure to align with the Community Vision 2035 Strategy.
The objectives of the Shared Master Plan were to identify opportunities for improvement of the city’s cycling, walking and shared use infrastructure in coming years.
Tonkin worked collaboratively with the City Council and the community to advocate for active transport and mobility. The main outcome was to produce a master plan for a shared path network that ties into and draws on from the success of the Rail Trail.

How we made a difference
The Shared Path Master Plan presents a comprehensive approach to address transport challenges faced by the community. It provides a roadmap for the
future development of shared paths, ensuring a safer, more connected and inclusive community for all residents in Mount Gambier/Berrin.
Tonkin was able to provide City Council with a shared path master plan so that moving forward, Council can plan, prioritise and budget for the design and
construction of the shared path network. The network will include path widening, shared paths by both cyclist and walkers, and directional and wayfinding signage.
