Tonkin was engaged by PPQ Group to provide structural and civil engineering services for the Robina Home Hub – a new 11,400m2 retail precinct on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
Robina is one of Australia’s first master planned communities and has been growing at an exponential rate since the 1980s. With newly constructed multi-level residential apartments supporting most of the population growth in the region, there is no shortage of locals who are in the market to purchase wares and services to fit-out their new homes.

Located approximately 10km south-west of Surfers Paradise, the Robina Home Hub will occupy the last piece of prime land adjacent to the Robina Town Centre, forming one of Queensland’s largest retail precincts.
Working for NEWLINK Property Group, PPQ Group needed robust civil and structural engineering services that would deliver practical, attractive, and cost-effective solutions for the Robina Home Hub development.
Tonkin’s Brisbane-based engineers provided integrated multi-disciplinary services including planning support, earthworks design, stormwater engineering, structural design, drafting, pavement design and civil design.


The development is currently under construction and leasing expressions of interest are open. The Robina Home Hub will feature:
- 11,400m2 retail space
- 2x stand alone drive-thru food tenancies
- 10,630m2 roof area
- 3000m2 suspended slab
- 1600m2 undercroft parking and storage.
With the high cost of building materials impacting the industry, PPQ Group selected Tonkin to partner on this project due to their previous positive experience working with our team, and in particular, our ability to keep projects on track and on budget.
Tonkin was mindful of working within the builder’s cost plan to ensure our engineering solutions didn’t negatively impact the construction costs of the project.
