The team is led by Tim Thiel – a Principal Civil Engineer with more than 35 years of experience. Within our Local Government and Development group are sub-discipline teams that specialise in Civil Engineering, Stormwater Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Asset Management and Spatial, and Design Drafting.

Water engineering is where Tonkin made our name, and our Adelaide-based water team is one of the largest business units in the company.
The team, which primarily provides consulting engineering services to water utilities, councils and construction companies, is led by David Janson.
With water professionals who specialise in civil engineering, hydraulic modelling, mechanical engineering and design drafting, the team’s expertise ranges across all aspects of water engineering, from planning and concept development, to network design, water supply and treatment, waste water, water structures and coastal engineering.

Geotechnical Team
Tonkin’s Adelaide Geotechnical Engineers deliver comprehensive geotechnical engineering solutions for a range of clients, specialising in civil and structural infrastructure projects in the water, transport, waste and land development sectors.
With Senior Geotechnical Engineer Jordan Neis-Beer leading the group, the team scopes and leads geotechnical investigations, carefully considering the impact of the encountered ground conditions on a range of design solutions.
