Infrastructure for the 2032 Olympics and beyond

When Brisbane was awarded the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the announcement was about much more than sport. Hosting an Olympics forces a city to rethink how it moves people, builds communities, and prepares for future growth.

For Brisbane and Queensland more broadly, the Games have become a catalyst for one of the biggest infrastructure programs Australia has seen in decades. The challenge is significant. Unlike previous Olympics where most events were concentrated around one urban area, Brisbane’s Games will be spread across eastern Queensland, with events planned from the Gold Coast right up to Cairns. That means the infrastructure effort is not just about building or upgrading venues - it is about improving transport, accommodations, utilities and public spaces across an entire region.

Hurdles
For Tonkin, helping deliver the infrastructure to support the 2032 Olympics is about far more than engineering - it’s about contributing to a global event that unites the world and leaving a legacy that will benefit generations to come.

Our engineers in our Brisbane and Sunshine Coast offices are excited about the opportunities ahead to create a lasting impact that they and generations of Queenslanders to come will benefit from.

With Tonkin being a national multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, with multiple offices in Queensland and further afield across Australia, we are well placed to provide a wide scope of services across all infrastructure categories.

One team. Cross-market expertise.

We look forward to partnering with government and other companies in the design and construction industry to provide engineering and environmental services across a range of areas required for the games.

Legacy Infrastructure

The infrastructure needed for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics goes far beyond stadiums and sporting arenas. The Games are driving major investment in transport, housing and urban development across Queensland.

If delivered successfully, these projects could reshape the region for decades, improving connectivity and modernising public infrastructure.

But, there's no doubt the scale of the task is enormous.

Tonkin would like to connect with other companies and contractors to explore strategic partnerships on the delivery of Olympics infrastructure. Start the conversation by contacting Tom Oliver or Riki-Lee Tulloh.
